The Sheriff is the chief law enforcement officer of the county.  The sheriff’s duties are:

  • Supervise all deputy sheriffs
  • Supervise the Search and Rescue Unit as needed
  • Responsible for the communication, coordination and cooperation with the National Guard, Arkansas State Police and other state, federal, city and county officials in the event of a disturbance or disaster
  • Responsible for serving warrants, attending court, transporting prisoners, investigating crimes, transporting mental patients and juveniles
  • Maintain the county jail facility and supervision of the inmates
